Information technology (IT) resources survey can be the first step in providing high-speed internet for schools in the Western Cape. Provincial education department said on Tuesday.
"It is our view that high speed broadband connectivity is the foundation on which information technology can be integrated into our schools, making available equitable electronic access to all users, regardless of location," provincial education MEC Donald Grant said.
Grant said that having internet at schools would ease the distribution of academically resources and facilitating aids.
The Western Cape Education Foundation together with the department and the private sector, had launched an audit of the existing internet infrastructure in schools to find out how much will the project cost.
